I'm new to FreeCiv and I'm giving it a try mostly because OS X 10.5 no longer supports Classic and thus Civ2 MPG. So I installed X11 from my 10.5 dvd and downloaded FreeCiv 2.1.3. Everything seemed to download okay, but when I try to launch FreeCiv I get an alert message that "The application civclient quit unexpectedly." If I select "Relaunch", same thing again. If I select "Ignore", I get the FreeCiv Options window, but selecting "Run Freeciv" generates the same alert message again. Is this build compatible with OS X 10.5? Am I doing something obviously wrong? MacUser 02:59, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

How about trying this test package: ftp://ftp.freeciv.org/freeciv/incoming/Freeciv_2.1.6_OSX_SDL_UB.dmg --hima 13:01, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

THAT DID THE TRICK! THANKS!! Now I just need to make some time to learn how to play! MacUser 03:16, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome. Note that this isn't an official package (yet) so there might be shortcomings. Could you confirm, for example, that saving and loading games works well on your system? Thanks, --hima 00:49, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

The Save and Load function seems to work fine. I haven't compared details before and after the save/quit/load, but superficially, all the units and cities seem to be correct and the land features seem correct. Let me know it there is something more specific that you want me to test.

BTW, my system details: iMac G5, 1.8GHz, 2GB DDR SDRAM, OS 10.5.4, X11 ver. 2.0MacUser 20:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
